Flora Botanica, Quilts From The Spencer Museum of Art
by Barbara Brackman

Quilt Historian Barbara Brackman, honorary curator for the Spencer Museum of Art,
chose carefully from the museum's exquisite quilt collection to assemble the quilts for the Flora Botanica.
This Spencer Museum of Art exhibit at the University of Kansas examined sources and symbolism
in floral patterns from various perspectives. The selected quilts range in age from the late -18th century to the recent past.
This catalog includes photos of all 27 quilts included in the exhibit. Also included are 5 new quilt projects drawn from the old patterns,
plus an introduction by Barbara about how many of these quilts found their way into the Spencer collection.
